Title: Engine Mounts
Post by: Bluesteel88 on June 16, 2007, 03:20:06 PM
Just noticed recently that on my engine mounts (stock i believe) the engine is pulling out the rubber backwards towards the firewall about a good inch or 2. I have a motor mount lift 1in jks. Was just wondering if thats a sign for new engine mounts or some other problem causing the engine to pull out and back like that?

Thanks

I wouldn't worry about them unless they are torn.  Although you could relax the tension on the rubber by adjusting all of the engine and transmission mounts.  This is a PITA with one person though.

It just means the engine shifted a bit with the new mounts.  Really you'd want the bushings to be neutral, which you can do by moving the whole drivetrain rearward a bit.  Unless they're broken or torn you should be OK though.
