My son is getting taller and taller and needs some leg room. I'm raising the seat 3" and wanted to put in a single seat and leave room for an ice chest beside that.
So what kind of seat? I want a slightly taller back then the bench gives but don't know what to look for.

You could go with a MasterCraft seat with a removeable headrest.

A guy from our local club had this put in his Jeep to give his son a safer seat

Wow, that setup sure takes up a lot of room.
Here's a pict of a Mastercraft with the adj./removeable headrest. You'll have more back support then a stock seat and it will still being low so visiability doesn't become a problem. When he gets his own Jeep, you could move it to the front and then buy a matching one later on.

I've acually thought about using a seat like this (http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgsh0101.exe?SKW=24270&HKW=TRAILMAX+CLASSIC&PAGLEN=10&FNM=00&UID=2005090719011184). I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard making a frame to use the stock retaining point. That way way you could change between the bucket and bench.

Yea his main goal was making it safe for his boy. He has had his Jeep on some really tuff trails and now that his son is old enough to ride along he wants to make it as safe as possible. He said that it actualy seems like it has more room though because now he can store stuff under and around the seat.

My kids too big for that roll caged in set up. He's 13 years old and like 5' 8" or so.
Another couple years and he's in his own Jeep, so I'm looking for something I can just trash later
