Scored an 87 XJ d44 for the YJ ,needs a regear and brakes. Heard a nasty rumor that the GC rear discs will bolt up to the XJ 44 any truth in it? And yes I used the search I just wanted to hear it straight from you jeep gurus out there.

Congrats! I'm still running the stock 10x.2.5" drums. They're larger then the stock D35 brakes. I forget if the ZJ used D44 axle flange pattern or a D35 pattern. Although, you should probably find or make a new mounting bracket. If they did work, you'd need to press off the bearings on the axle shafts and use the ZJ's retainer flange so the thickness is correct.

One of the shafts is missing the bearings anyway so a new set is in order. I have a line on a few ZJ's at the u-pull it junk yard. I am still trying to figure out how this works though. If I go soa front and rear will the stock spring perches be okay or do they need to be moved so the pinion angle can be raised? The is first I have messed with the axle. P.S period will definately be checking out the write up on your swap.

I'm not certain but I think the perches are a bit off. I just cut mine off and mounted them where I needed to. Perches are cheap $20. I picked up new shock mounts too ($20)

I was reading this thread it it looks like I was right, the axle flanges are different.

Thanks for the info on the disc's. For all that trouble I think I just may stick with the stock drums. I will probably begin on my little project this weekend.
