Does anyone know the stock lift, duration, and centerline of a stock 2.5L camshaft from a 95 YJ.
I have located a mopar cam with .45" lift and I am wondering how serious of a cam this is. I am running a high flow exhaust and 4.0L TB, does anyone have any idea what kind of performance gains I will get with a cam like this? Also I have 4.10s and 33s

The Mopar .450"/256* cam is considered the "hot" Mopar cam. It's about 2 folds hotter than the stock cam. I've had one in my garage waiting to be installed for almost 2 years now, but since I want to do the complete valvetrain I need to wait for better cash flow. The Mopar book says it's good form 1300-5900RPM, which is well over fuel cut off. I don't think it would be a good "idling" cam, but would perform faily well for almost any other application. When I'm wheeling I barely ever go under 1500-2000RPM.

I run that cam with the same setup, 4.0L TB, hi-flow intake setup, free-slowing exhaust, 33" and 4.10 gears. It runs really strong for stock gears.
Seems to be running rich right now, I'm soon to be installing an adj. map sensor to fine-tune the air/fuel ratio. I could use a good tune-up as well, most likely with the FirePower ignition kit.

Does anybody have Mopar part #'s for the high perf cams? I have a brand new Mopar 2.5L cam I'm going to use for my rebuild next year but I'm not sure if it's a stocker or something better (wishful thinking).

Check the FAQ

I think the original Cam lift is something like .430...Maybe less.

What cams are out there that favor low end torque?
-
Good luck finding a Mopar Purple Perofrmance cam. You're only bet is ebay or Clifford.
Mopar made a 430, 440, 450, 455 and 460 I believe.

I hear a lot about these purple cams, whats so great about them? You will have to excuse my ignorance but engine parts are where my jeep knowledge begins to lack. What lift would give a decent hp increase but add more torque than anything. Is a purple cam the coveted solution to that? and what kind of performance increase over what rpms can be expected?

Here's a site what explains it all.

Something should be added to the FAQ about cams though.

I just bought 2 Mopar Stage 3 Cams for mine and my fathers 2.5L's. from what I have read from the few people that actually install them they give a nice boost in bottm end torque.
My Dad plans to install his shortly but I am waiting on the build of my 2.5L.. I am hoping for good results. It has a .450 lift.
You can still find a few people that have them sitting around in their garages like I did.

Please let me know how it turns out after it is installed.
Thanks
