I thought someone here did a write up on an electric fan install. I did a search but can't find it. Am I wrong?

You'll get a bit more mileage and power out of the 4banger with the efan 

But I know if I put one in, I'd start looking at this new space under the hood and think: "shoot, I could practically fit another 4 cylinder in there!?" Then the financial dominoes would start to fall (at least in my case): V8 swap, axles, tranny, and so on   

Me, I can't afford to install an e-fan on this 4banger until I have ludicrous money to burn.   :lol:

And what can you use this new space in the engine bay for?  On-Board Air?  Tools?   It looks like everything would obstruct air flow.

If you've ever had to deal with the 4.0 you would appreciate all that space to work with inside the engine compartment with the 2.5.

4.0L is nothing, try a European car.  They are always really tight.  I forget which GM it is but one of the Chevy trucks has 100,000 mile spark plugs since it requires the engine to be pulled to change them!

dont' ask me why but my brother bought a 1999 blazer and you had to pull the steering colum to change the plugs. i read that and the first thing i did was figure out how to kill the power to the airbag.. just in case.

on topic, how many cfms should the fan be? i found a parts place that does a 3500 cfm for 40 bucks. would that be enough?

what about the Cadillac with the starter under the intake manifold....or it might have been a Buick motor... i saw it at the auto show a few years back and it scared me... but that isn't as bad as pulling a motor for spark plugs.

Wow, this thread has been alive and well while I was away. I got a Lincoln MKVII fan from StvDiego before I left along with a control module/relay. I'm just not sure of two things.

1. I'm not so sure the gauge of wire on the temp sensor/relay plug is large enough to power the fan without meltdown (14 gauge on the control. The fan looks to be 10 gauge).
2. What wires on the fan do what.

Anyone?

4 wires on the fan, a common ground, a single wire for low, and two similar wires for high.  Don't know colors without going out into the garage.

You'll be fine using the same gauge wire as the ones running to them motor...
