Title: Tire options

Hey guy, I just recently got a set of five aluminum 16x8 wheels for only 280 bucks.  It was an awesome deal (they were new) and now I need some tires to go on them.  I was thinking 265/75/16 because those are about equal to a 31.5 inch tire.  I noticed the rubicons have 245/75/16 on them but their springs are a bit taller.  Will 256/75s fit on a stock height jeep?  If they fit should I still get a 2" bb so it can flex a but without rubbing?

They will fit, and the jeep will look and perform better with the 2" BB.

265/75r16's are the exact same diameter as bfg at's at 31x10.5's  they are 30.5" in diam  and should fit a TJ without a lift of course a lift is always nice

The overall diameter of a 265/75/16 is closer to 32" according to the tire companies.  I found a set of rubi springs for a good price and I hope that putting those on (should be done this weekend) will help.

I guess it differs from manufacturer to manufacturer and the kind of tire the ones on my nissan frontier 4x4 are no bigger than the 31's on my jeep and when you try the metric tire converters I am pretty sure it comes up with pretty much a 31" tire diam. if all else fails a 1" body lift would do you just fine or the rubi springs what ever is cheapest. Or doing the lazy mans aproach just put the tires on first and see what clearance you have.
I wheeled mine with 31" tires and a stock suspension and it did not rub the tires in the fenders. I lifted it since rocks where beating the snot out of the underside of my heep

Tires do differ from mfg to mfg.  Not only that much going from AT to MT is about .5" difference for the same tire.  Then if you go bias ply vs radial, you could be off as much as an 1.5".  Tires will also sit differently on the wheel depending on the wheel width.  Narrower wheel with a fate tire will ride overinflated compared to one with a wider wheel to match.
