Our '98 TJ has been pretty reliable over the almost 200,000 miles weve had it. One thing keeps coming up though. You can almost set yur calendar to it. Every 2 years or so the starter craps out on it. I think we're on our 4th starter now. So I'm wondering if this is a regular thing or not?
Is there anything I can do to extend the life of the starter? I've had it rebuilt, bought a new one and bought re-manned ones. All teh same. After about 2 years it's dead. :brick:
Any advice, hints, tips etc?

Don't know for sure but see if nipon denso makes a aftermarket starter for it. We use those on all UPS trucks about the most reliable starter money can buy.

Hmmm, I'm on #1 still. I hope you have one of those Lifetime Warranty's on the starter. It should not be going bad every two years. Although, if it's getting dunked in mud or water, that can reduce it's life.
