Title: Google Map Jeep Hunt
Post by: Jeffy on September 19, 2007, 11:25:57 AM
So here's how you play.  Go to www.maps.google.com and pick an area.  Then go to street view and see if you can find any.  To get the link you will need to 'Link to this page'  Then post the link.  They will be long so use the {url=http://www__________}  Jeep {/url} so we don't get huge links.  (Replace the { with [ )

Here's a good one; It looks to be TJ (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=3775+S+Kalamath+St+Englewood,+CO+80110,+United+States&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=39.320439,65.126953&ie=UTF8&ll=39.653185,-104.999063&spn=0.009351,0.022938&t=h&z=16&om=1&layer=c&cbll=39.649472,-105.002919&cbp=1,286.299939710611,0.5,0) with some 33's and a boner bar.

  So how many can you find?  Oh and no going to Jeep Dealerships!

Yeah...check out some of the views that were shot too close to sunrise/sunset.  You can see the outline of a van with a big disc thingy on the top with the camera in it.

How long before they cover the whole U.S.?? :puzzled:

Yeah, you have to live in the civilized world.   Large Cities are a good bet on the East and West coasts.  Other large cites in your state is also a fair bet.

Looks to be a late CJ but the lights are sorta blurry it could be an early YJ.

Ok funny little story.  This is not the original one I intended to display.  I had forgotten the address of the first one that I found, which was a silver tj or jk, and I was moving the map around to try and find the street when i accidentally clicked on a street and right there in front of me was this little buggar!

double wammy! the one I accidentally clicked had another jeep just a click down the road.  I didn't bother to look because I had already found the first one but here is it. 1058 washington st denver co. the other was 1048 washington st.  Wouldn't that be weird if that was a members address, and their jeep?  ???

i think what happened on my xj and the last tj is that we started on a link that had the repeated jeep and then found a new one but for some reason when we copied the link it went back to the original jeep. because i did find a black Cherokee with out the work grain that was right next to the camera.

ill have to go to that practice thread to figure out this hyper link thing because i apparently cant fallow directions :brick:

Looks to be a late CJ but the lights are sorta blurry it could be an early YJ.

Actually, that's a mid to late YJ.  Notice the rollbar, thats post-91.  It has 'Sport' wheels.  I'd guess something around 1994.

Nice find!  :thumb:

With round lights??  Looks like a CJ to me as well....with wagon wheels...

I think the blurryness of the pict is fooling you.  The headlights are a bit too wide to be CJ.  The flares are YJ.  CJ's don't have square flares.  They also don't have the step after the front flare.  That started with the YJ.  The paint looks like it's emerald green.  Jeep in the side is a sticker.  They started doing that on the YJ's.  Like I mentioned before fore the roll cage is square in the back which means it's post '91.  The wheels look to be OEM 15x7 6-Spokes with the center caps missing.  The spare looks to be a 15x6 9-slot though.  Could be as early as a '93.
