Title: rattling noise
Post by: enginethatcould on October 23, 2007, 11:32:52 AM
I have a 1993 Yj with a manuel transmission. When I press the gas there is a noise that sounds like it would be two plates rattling together. The noise happens when I have the transmission engaged or it's in neutral. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The last rattling sound on my jeep was a broken exhaust pipe.

Moving or sitting still?  is it a heavy sound or a light sound?  Can you get out and look for it?  My guess would be the exhaust.  Hanger or heat shield.  Could be a baffle inside the muffler too.

I had a hunch it might be the cadilac converter

Is that the one that converts the Jeep into a Cadilac?
