I am saving up the $ to re gear the YJ and to put something in the front diff. My rig has a 2 1/2 inch lift with 31's. I have a posi in the back and like it but the front needs some grab.
Going to put 4.88 in
What is your opinion for the front diff and what do you have
Another posi
OX Locker - I like the fact of the cable, No electronics to add
ARB - more electric stuff to add, popular
I do not want to be locked 24/7
What are your Thoughts?
-
ARB, you can add an air tank and have on board air as part of the upgrade.
-
I'd go with the ARB as well. It's a solid setup. It costs more since you have to either buy the compressor or build one but then you have an air source as well.
-
Keep it simple!
Go with the OX. Onboard air is easy and cheap to do with a 12 v compressor. There are many capable ones that are cheaper than the ARB.
I'll be looking an Ox in the front next year to go with the S35 w/Detroit in back.

Depends whether you want to be on the trail cursing a siezed cable or broken air line ;)
If you havn't gotten rid of the center disconnect yet on your front axle, that would be a better place to start before spending $5-600 on a selectable locker.

I have an ox in my rear dana 44. I like it but if you are going to only be doing light wheeling and don't want to break a dana 35, I would go with a Detroit Trutrack! I had one in my 35 and thought it was great. I guess since that wasn't a choice I would have to put my vote in for an OX.
I have had 0 problems with my ox.

I'd go with the Ox!! To much B.S. comes with the air locker. Drill the diff, run this air line thruogh here, and they sell reseal kits for a reason. People who say they don't have any problems with an ARB don't use them!!
-
Go with the Ox, KISS simple compared to the ARB.
-
the decision is...put in 4.88 and a posi lok and see how that does for my mode of wheelin. If I get a locker it will be an OX!

I just put a Posi Lok in. I haven't hit any trails yet but it does the trick as far as engaging the 4x4. No more guessing game as weither or not your in 4x4. I got the longer one because a 4.5" rubi lift is coming soon. I just have to reenlist first.

Posi Locks dont work with the aftermarket D30 chromoly axles, right? From what I have read, those are a single piece unit... I was also thinking about this mod, but the fact that it would be worthless if I upgraded to alloy axles kind of deterred me...
