I have a 94 YJ 2.5L 5sp with 46,000 mi.
Really, can anyone actually use the seat? I'm thinking of taking it out.
I've been zeroing my jeep. (As if it had zero miles on it.) So far I've replace the serpentine belt, the air filter, put in a Performance Distributors ignition system, replaced the battery with an Optima red top, and replaced all the fluids with synthetics. I also installed Bestop Entry Steps to make it a lot easier to get in the back seat. Now I wonder why I bothered. I can't tilt the passenger seat for entry with it all the way forward and unless it is pretty much all the way forward, there is no leg room in the back, and with the passenger seat all the way forward, there is no room for anybody in the front seat.
Oh well ::)
This weekend I'll flush the radiator, replace the hoses and thermostat, and do the 15 to 20 gal fuel tank mod.

I took my rear seat out a while ago. Unless it's really needed, I don't put it in. Although I don't have the leg room problems you are describing. I think TJ's have more leg room front and back.

Plenty of legroom for my wife, 11 year old and 9 year old to sit ;)

My TJ has plenty of room for the capacity of the vehicle (4) ... sometimes even enough for a 5th with a slight squeeze 8)

Hmm, I have non-tilt seats and no sliders and I can still get pretty decent access to the rear seat. I've had 4 adults in the Jeep before. It's no problem for the nephew who's over 6ft back there. So there's enough leg room as well. I wouldn't be planning any long road trips but it works OK for short trips.

:uhoh: OK. I'm an idiot. If the seat is not quite all the way back, I can fit and there is room in the front. The seat wasn't latching properly and it wanted to be all the way back or all the way forward. A little cleaning and lube and everything is fine. I feal a lot better now.

compared to cj2s and 3s the leg room in my wrangler is almost unbelievable. but the backseat isn't that great for long trips. best thing i've seen is taking it out and driving around with girls standing in the back holding onto the roll bar with bikinis on :bow: :popcorn:

Until they fall out and someone breaks something. :lol:
Ad for legroom, I think my friends old CJ5 80" had more legroom then my YJ. Yous start losing space when you mount racing seats and 6pt roll cages.

ive sat in the back of my jeep infact my family has taken it on a road trip, when my dad still drove it daily. wasnt too cramped either. my friend only complain b/c i have so much shit in the back and garbage they are rather comfortable tho overall

This is one of the reasons I go to the "Summer 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals" in Bloomsburg PA every year. I'm hoping to enter the Jeep this year. I know there isn't much done to it but there are always entrants who have way less done to their Jeeps/trucks than what I have.

Jeep Backseat is basically a ride-mooch landing pad for people on foot.
I got stuck taking 3 lazy-a$$, yet perfectly fit early 20s hikers down a mountain in it last year. Passenger I was with made me do it
Otherwise, though, would you really want people you like to suffer back there?

You know the rear seat makes for a luxurious camp couch as well...

i haven't seen my rear seat in a long time. i enclosed my wheel wells in and made myself a trunk and a shelf for mounting other accessories. my harnesses made it too hard to get in the back anyway.
