I was going to get the dunlop mud rovers but now they are out of stock :'( But a local shop has some Mud King tires for really cheap, I have never heard of these tires before are they decent. Anyone use these before are the good offroad, how do they wear on the street?
I have my jeep in the shop with all the parts except for the tires, I hope I can find some tires so I dont have to pick up my jeep with tiny tires & a big lift it will look like a funny car :lol:

yep bfg tires, they look like swampers if i'm not mistaken. i haven't heard anything bad about them but i don't know the life you will get out of them.

Actually they should look like the OLD BFG MT's. The ones before they went to the KM naming structure.

The center lugs on the tire look like a tame version of super swampers, but the outside lugs somewhat resemble a BFG MT without the alternating outside lugs.

If they're cheap then I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. You should be able to easily get 40K out of the MT's and 60K out of the AT's. They're a newer tire then the Dunlop Rovers. I think those predate time. :lol:

i had a set on my geo tracker. they were great for the price. i'll get some on my jeep when i need tires. i put 75,000 highway miles on them and they still were in good shape. my tracker went almost everywhere with them.

I doubt there is any radial tire out there that doesn't get at least 40K miles. Well, except for those from Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepek or Interco.
Tire pressure will really depend on the Jeeps weight. Best thing to do is the chalk line across the tire method. Craw a chalk line across the tire. Then drive the Jeep to the end of the driveway and check the line. If the middle area of the line is warn away but the shoulders are still bright then you want to add more air. Reverse if it's the other way round. You will want an even line. Do a front tire and a rear tire as they maybe be different. Generally speaking though, a 8" wheel will require less pressure then if you went with a 10" wheel. This is because the sidewalls of the tire get pinched in on the narrower wheel. This forces the tread area to get a bulge in the center as the outer tread gets pulled down.

Yeah but you can count on one hand the other tires out there that go as well offroad as the LTB's do. I run them on my Heep and I can go places I just shouldn't be, because of those tires, I don't mind the tread wear because of it. I plan to get a set of at's for road use here soon, so I can save the LTB's for trail use.
And here is an extreme pic of my Heep having the big lift small tire problem.

My old 31 x 11.5 LTB kicked ass for traction for sure, hell I could climb hills & go through mud better in 2-wheel drive better than I could with the BFG 30" AT's that I had on before. And when I would put the thing in four-wheel it practicaly felt like I had lockers in there when going offroad.
On the street the stuck like glue, I rember one time I was driving on a day that was a sheet of ice for 50 miles and almost every car I saw was in the ditch, I rember hearing a crunching sound as I was driving on the highway I think those huge soft outside lugs were actually breaking up the ice. Anyways I felt planted on one of the worst ice storms Iowa has ever gotten in my life time. And driving through snow on the highway was a joke to, didnt even faze those LTB's.
But the damn things were soooo soft I literally one time showed someone how soft they were by taking my TJ's ignition key and stuck it a good 1/4" into several of those outside lugs that were in perfect condition. And I didnt even have to try to push it in, it when into the tire like a knife in hot butter. But I would love to have a set of 33" or 34" just for offroading trips then go back to normal mudders for the street / local offroad pits. But my wife would never allow that. Although my wife has two sets of tires for her neon winter and all-seasons maybe I should play that fiddle for a while :bore: :smokes:

I'll post up a pic when my jeep's all done :thumb: I am picking these tires up tonight and running them over to the shop thats installing the lift & other goodies. I am getting them for $129.00 a tire for 33 x 12.5 x R15 which is a pretty decent deal in my book.

that's why i thought the looked like tsl's . the center lugs where like the tsl's, that is what triggered my memory.

I picked up the mud kings last nite and delivered them to the shop thats putting on my lift kit & goodies. The mud kings are defiantly more aggressive than BFG MT's, its not just the super swamper looking center lugs overall the spacing between the lugs are very open, I hope these tires last along as my old kumho MT's. I would say they are like in between the BFG MT and the swamper LTB's that I had as far as aggressive goes and lug spacing. The only thing I didnt like about them from just looking at them last nite is that the outside lugs arent staggered or offset. BTW the tires look MUCH more aggressive and wider spaced lugs in person than on that pic of the mud kings, I just hope they work out alright because they sure do look cool :smokes:
Anyways I am supposed to get my TJ back today with all lift & all goodies installed, I feel like a kid waiting around the christmas tree on christmas morning :dance:

I agree with jeffy about the chalk line, that's what i had to do with mine. I run about 14-16 psi on road, and drop to about 8 off road.
