Title: I must have messed up
Post by: floyd on December 12, 2007, 04:52:13 PM
When I found 4BANGERFP I thought I had found my oasis of info. I am upgrading my 84 150 to mpi. I'm sure some of my questions will be found here. Well was I wrong, as far as I can tell no one that visits this forum runs a 4 banger, or if they do they haven't ever wanted to make it bigger or better, they just want to know the best 6, or 8 to replace it with. I'm sure that I am looking in the wrong place here.  Please tell me you really are 4BANGERS, not everything but.  :puzzled:

4BangerFP?

No one here has a 4banger???  99% of the members here have 4bangers.  So ask your questions.

There are things you can do to improve your 4banger performance.  We all, or most of us, run 4bangers.  Lots of info here...especially to tell ya where you may be wasting time or $$...

Just ask...

So far your only question has been about relocating the CPS - which 4 banger or not isn't a normal thing to do.  The normal way to upgrade to MPI is to swap the whole motor.  One of the benefits of the 2.5L is you can get them complete for practically nothing, so folks don't spend a lot of time trying to convert carb motors to FI.

You didn't get an answer to one very uncommon problem. Hell, I've never even heard of someone trying to put a MPFI setup on a CJ 2.5L. How does that equate to no one running a 4 banger? Please do a search before you make an ignorant blanket statement like that. You will find members who have tackled many performance upgrades. Some with good results, some not so good. Ask and you shall receive, we are more than happy to help.

I actually did a 3 cylinder swap. The donor vehicle was a Daihatsu. So, you are correct, the majority of us are not actually running 4 cylinders. It's all a lie to get more forum members.

I've heard of a few people converting over to MPFI from Carb and TBI but it usually means a whole donor swap.

If interested in an engine swap, just check craigslist.  I just stumbled upon a 97 4cl motor,5sp, and trasfer case for 600 bones.
