does anyone know of anyone who has done this or where i can find info on the tech side of it.I know it gets done some but cant find any articles on what exact parts work the easiest such as frame perches location and if the yj springs are the best for it.Just trying to find any or all the info i can.thanks chris

Type TJ leaf spring conversion into google there are tons of people who have done and documented the swap.

What would be the benefits of converting a TJ to leafs? I've never heard of anyone doing it.

Makes them behave better offroad. Lifted short arm suspensions suck offroad. Most aftermarket long arm suspensions are only margininally better and cost a bundle.

You can find a short write-up on Brad Kilby's TJ-7 with leafs out back on 4x4wire.com

Xj leafs work quite well in yj set ups, I would imagine it would work with a tj too. Xj springs are non-symetrical, the center pin is offset to the front, you can rotate them front to back and it kicks your axle back to extend your wheel base. We did this recently to a friends yj and we were able to fab a rear bumper with shackle hangers mounted directly to the bumper. I am not certain of the wheel base now but I think it kicked the axle back about 8". I haven't done any research on tj leaf conversions but if I were to do it I think this is the method I would use. I don't think it would require an excessive amount of fab, spring hangers and shackle hangers, if you were to use stock xj springs you would want to spring over so you would probably want to fab an antiwrap bar. Mjs are sprung under so depending on the amount of lift you are running they would give you approx. 5" of lift over stock xj springs if you were to run them spring over.

I would imagine then that just like with the YJ's you would be able to remove the trackbar once this conversion is done? It's funny, years ago I had a YJ that had a coil conversion and it was VERY squirely to drive.

Yup. You don't need a track bar on a leaf spring suspension.

The article is a bit old. I believe he went with a SOA later on.
