I am going to be changing the diff covers (just got some ARB ones, with the dipstick; nice to be able to check for water without having to open the diff!), and was wondering what oit you guys would recommend to use.  I was thinking about Royal Purple, but I dont know if there is something better out there...

I always here Royal Purple is the best...but I think I just use Mobil??  formulated for limited slip so I don't have to put the adder in as well.

If you wheel a lot in mud or water, then grab whatever you can since you'll be changing it often.  Otherwise, you'll be just wasting money.  Otherwise, I'd go with a good synthetic that you can get just about anyplace.   Something like Mobil1.  Some use Redline, Amsol as well as Royal Purple but I've never bothered.

$5 a gallon Farm Oyl from fleet farm works as well as anything.

I think I will follow your advise here and just put some regular cheapo oil in there and change it often...

I use Mystik, it's cheap and it get's changed about as often as the engine oil.

Good Idea!!   I filled both pumkins with Amsoil last summer at $150.00.  3 weeks later after a moderate run with one deep hole I was water contaminated.  Went to Napa got some Napa brand (read Valvoline) for $25 and inspect after every run usually end up changing every third run.  Synthetic Amsoil in the crankcase and tranny but not in the diffs.
