Hey everyone.
Look out for the clogged cat, i could not get about 2200 RPMs and bad bad gas mileage. I was hearing aLL kinds of rattling. Paid 300 flat today to ahve the new cat installed and welded. Jeep 4 banger runs much much better!
The shop that did the work said that there may be a leak in my exhaust manifold. Said they could hear it after install. Dunno. My question is 2 fold.
1. Could the clogged cat have caused that with the pressure and heat buildup over the last week?
2. How much would it cost me to have a new stock manifold installed? parts and labor. my guess that if no studs break it is an 8 hour job because of the intake mani.

Chances are the front and/or rear studs on the exhaust manifold are already broken, common problem on the 4banger. If that's the problem, replacing the studs will seal the manifold back up.

10-4. keep the stock mani?
how long is the job to replace the studs and nuts?

You'd have to look at it first. If it's cracked, replace it. If it's just leaking at the head due to a stud or bad gasket, keep it. I put a header on my brothers 98 in a few hours. That doesn't mean that a shop will only charge you a few hours, but you could always do it. It really doesn't take any crazy tools, and you would gain a little experience. It's really not that hard.
