Hey, guys... I was thinking that what better way to use my tax refund that with a new set of bumpers for my rig. I was looking around, and I really like the way the Hanson Enterprise bumpers look (both (http://www.4wheelparts.com/aux_incl/images.ashx?i=JR61302-P1.JPG&partNo=H/W) front and rear (http://www.4wd.com/aux_incl/images.ashx?i=JRR4002PTJ.jpg&jeep-parts=true&w=550&h=550)).
I was looking online for reviews on these bumpers, but could not come up with much, and it seems their web site is no longer online. Do you guys have any feedback on these bumpers?
I am looking for something that will be strong up front, but i dont like tube bumpers all that much. Also, since I will be taking the rig to the tropics, I want the radiator with the least amount of possible interfereance as possible (I like that the Hanson bumper is recesed for the winch mount), and for the rear bumper, I am looking for something with a fulsh mounted receiver and taps (I was also looking at the HighRock one, but I know that one is open on the back and it seems to accumulate a lot of mud there).
Keep in mind that I will be running mostly in mud with not much rock crawling (basically just to get out of the rivers!).

Wow, $560 for a basic bumper. Time to quit my job and start making bumpers.

I guess they changed their site... Used to be (according to the sticker in the bumper on the catalogue) hansonenterprise.com...

Hanson is $$$$. Out of all of the companies they are the most expensive. The front bumper was kinda of like teh original Currie design before they made it simpler. I think the other expensive one is the ARB. Seems that Advanced Frame Works makes a knockoff of the Currie/Hanson still. http://www.quadratec.com/products/12026_100_07.htm

I guess my question is this: is it worth spending the extra bucks for the hansen, or am I just paying for a name? If the bumper is sturdier than others, I may go ahead and get one... For the rear bumper, I was looking also at the HighRock by Bestop, but I read that (1) they are a pain to mount (holes dont line up) and (2) that they tend to accumulate a lot of mud because they are open on the back side, which is bad when you do a lot of mud running because of the rusting...
If you feel I am paying only for the name, what bumpers would you recommend?

I would go with a rockmen bumper (www.rokmen.com)on the front with no doubt....back would have a body armor.

I would just chop the ends off the stock front bumper to keep the 4banger jeep light. Then install tube fenders if you think they will be too vulnerable without a bumper to protect them.

I picked up my front and rear bumpers separately, used and $100 each. I went with a high approach front bumper and found this one. It needed a little painting but that is it. It looks a little off is due to the 1.25" body lift.

For the rear, I picked up a Tomken bumper. Its the typical tapered boxed tubing with integrated hitch point. I added some frame strengtheners when I installed it. It was dented little and needed some metal grinding on the bottom and some paint, but I'd be doing the same thing the other did so that didn't really matter.

if anything, you plan to wheel the TJ, get a steering box protector. Mine has saved my box many times. You could use it with a modified stock bumper, you may only need to some clearance. I clearanced my stock bumper when I added a hitch point on the front of my TJ. The bumper is a little thicker than sheetmetal.

Those guys rock....and it's not because I know them personally and they're doing all of the work on my rig.... :hump:

I kept looking online, and I found this one for the front; seems pretty much indestructible! Looks good as well (even if it is a shorty bumper!).
http://www.shrockworks.com/Jeep-Winch-Bumper-TJ-YJ-Front-Rock-Hammer-Std-pr-16138.html
I like that it also has the option to include the steering skidplate...
For the rear, I like the jcrOffroad one... And I like the option of having the bumper lined instead of pouder coated. I may even line the shrockworks one if I end up getting it!
What do you guys think?

They do have some very good prices!

Again, I'm not just saying this because these guys are in my neck of the woods, but JCR rocks. There is just something about a couple of young guys making great crap and not forcing you into doing something you don't want to do. They make great product and have a great time doing it. :thumb:
