my motor started running bad about 3 weeks ago when i was driving down the highway and it started to miss. If i had it parked and in neutral the engine would run fine. We i tried to rev up the engine through the rpm range it will sputter and backfire. Then the next day it ran fine. later that day i started it again and it started to act up again. Now it doesn't run at all. I've replaced the distributer cap, roter, O2 sensor, ignition coil, fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, and checked and clean the t.p.s. and the ideal contol. I don't know what else it could be. Oh and now when i try to start it all it does is back fires and acts like it wants to start but doesn't. i am out of ideas i need help!!

You might try or test three things.
Have your crank sensor tested. (located on the bell housing driver side)
Check your timing, sometimes you can shear the pin that locates the
gear to the distributor shaft.
Do a compression test to make sure your
timing chain did not slip.
Did you get a check engine light?

i don't think its the timming because it ran fine the day after it stated to run bad but it may be that. the check engine light does not come on

Check the simple stuff spark/ fuel. Do you have spark at the coil and the sparkplugs if so does the fuelpump run . does it have adequate fuel pressure and do the injectors work. Check ignition timing/ distributor indexing. If that is ok you might just want to loosen the exhaust pipe or take the oxygen sensor out and see if it will run with the exhaust opend up. This is the basic stuff that should atleast get it running.

It has spark. I took out the injectors and tried to start it and they fired off well. How would i go about checking the ignition timing/ distributor indexing?
-
Even if the check engine light does not come on
I would get it checked for codes.

well when the timiong marks are aligned the rotor should point to either cyl number 1 wire or cyl number 4 wire. this would get you close that it should attempt to run. Does it have fuel pressure? If not try jumping the fuel pump relais see if that gives you fuel pressure and it still does not run unscrew the oxygen sensor and leave the hole open and attempt to start it. If that brings her alive the exhaust/cat is clogged

thanks for the help will get back if i don't have any sucess

She runs once more. It turned out to be the crankshaft postion sensor. Thanks for the help
