Just a quick question. Will a spring u bolt kit for a D35 work on a D44? I think the tubes have about the same diameter but the D35 is tapered ...
Thanks

The Dana 44 tube should either be 2-3/4" or 2-5/6" if it's a true Dana 44 and not a Rubicon or TJ axle. In which case the D44 has a larger diameter tube.

Thanks Jeffy,
This is a Cherokee D44. Just out of curiosity, what D44s come with 2 5/6?

It really depends on the application, but I don't have any specs on every D44 made. I just remember Currie asking me what size when I was ordering. 2-3/4" is the more common size though.

I was in a jeep shop the other day and saw a D44 that looked like it had bigger tubes than mine. I asked them about it but they didn't know what it came out of.

Well, you'll see up to 3.1" tubes on front applications as well as larger tubes on some Full-size trucks. Now if they're custom, then they will sometimes retube them to better, thicker tubes. It's not all about the overall dia. but the thickness of the tube walls as well.
