Team Underdawg is a group of San Francisco Bay Area engineers participating in the DARPA Grand Challenge (http://www.grandchallenge.org).
Team Underdawg was one of only 43 teams chosen to compete in the National Qualifying Event in September which will determine which 20 teams will be on the starting line for the Grand Challenge.
The DARPA Grand Challenge was created to accelerate research and development in autonomous ground vehicles. The challenge is to build an autonomous vehicle that can compete in a race across the Southwest, following a pre-determined course and avoiding obstacles. More information is available at the Grand Challenge.

Grand Challenge is pretty cool! I've been sort of following it. This year's course is a heck of a lot harder than last year, including one part where they have to go through a tunnel that cuts their GPS signal for a while.

Last year no one went further then 7.5 miles... A Handfull finished this year and they did it in under the 10 hour cutoff.
