I run a stage 2 Jet power chip in my TJ and it requires premium gas. I normaly run Amoco Ultimate cause thats what the jeep likes. The other day in a hurry I stop in a Gas America station to throw some fuel in, I'm pumping my gas and looking at the pump I see a little sticker that says "Our gasoline contains 10% ethanol". I kinda freaked on it for a second the thought oh well. anyway the jeep ran great, maybe a little better than normal and the gas seemed to last longer ( I don't keep track of the mileage, that can be depressing LOL) and it was cheaper. Question is am I gonna burn up my little four banger, if not I am gonna keep burnin it. I did a little research and found this. www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080305/BUSINESS01/80305027/1029/BUSINESS But you can't always believe what you read.

It won't hurt your jeep, you just get worse milage out of it. Ethanol has less energy than gas, which is why E85 has to be about 20-25% cheaper than normal gas to break even.

I don't check my mileage like I said but I drive about 260 miles a week to work and it seemed to last longer and the jeep seemed to have a little more power. Maybe just 10% ethanol is enough to give it a boost, I don't know.

If you have never run ethanol gas before, it's probabally cleaning all the crap out of your fuel system. Might want to keep a spare fuel filter on hand if that's the case.

ethanol likes to pit and kill carbs and some rubber hoses/ seals. if you can get gas without ethanol id use it... we use none ethanol gas in our cj3a and 4wheelers so that the carbs don't have to be rebuilt after not being used for a month or so but with newer vehicles it doesn't matter as much.

But once you replace the lines and use rebuild kits with more modern stuff there are no issues. Might also have to bump up the mixture if you have a carb.
For a TJ it's going to have absolutely no effect on the parts other than cleaning them out.

ethanol is all gas nowadays, its a way for the gas companies to make more money. Cheaper for them and you get less mileage. They just decided to be nice and mark how much. LOL. The cheaper gas stations run more in theres. I wanna say theres an average of about 5-15% ethanol in all gas (Can't remember exactly at the moment). Unless theres something like 30%+, you really dont have to worry about much.

I'm using 10% ethanol and I have not noticed any change in mpg... Still at 14.8 (give or take a decimal). In other words, it still sucks!
