Title: Surface rust
Post by: 95yjman on March 13, 2008, 11:56:49 AM
I've got a little bit of surface rust on my frame, nothing bad but just some spots here and there. Is there a way I can take care of that, and if there is how hard would it be?  I figured it would be good to take care of it now before it got to out of hand.

Some light sanding and rust converter from Wal Mart should work well.  Then maybe some black paint on top of that.

Wire brush if it's more then surface rust.  Otherwise some rust neutralizing paint.  I like Rustolium Industrial black.

I had a bit of surface rust on several parts of my frame, I wire brushed it and por15'd it. Has been two years of new england salt and winters and has not come back. After I was her, it still looks great. You can buy a POR15 starter pack on ebay for $15 has every thing you need.
