Title: 94 YJ with 10000kms on rebuilt motor tapping noise was crankshaft bearings.....
Post by: Android20 on March 26, 2008, 10:36:29 AM
well the tapping noise that I thought was the valve train was actually the crankshaft bearings so now I need to rip it out and put a new engine in and send the other one back to the company if they still will give me a warranty. Anyone know if intake modifications(cold air intake, Bored throttle body and TB spacer) and a computer chip will wreak your bearings. If so then this was totally my fault. Well I guess I will never find out unless I look at the bearings to figure out what the cause was. Also how hard is it to drop a 4.0L in place of a 2.5L maybe that would be my best bet if the company will not give me another 4banger. Thanks for your advice and input

Those mods wouldn't do anything to ruin a crank bearing.   Easiest way to ruin one is to loose oil pressure, or get a bunch of fuel in your oil.

well my oil pressures fine plus I put a new oil pump in when I dropped the engine in and I can't see how fuel would get into my oil
