Hey,
Does anyone have an opinion on the factory Rubicon springs and shocks.
I was told that they would give me an extra 2" on my factory TJ SE.
It looks like you can pick up a set for about $150.00.
Maybe other suggestions in similar price range.
Thanks

I doubt that you'll really get more than about an inch out of it. All that's netting you that amount of lift is a stiffer spring, so I would imagine that you would get a rougher ride along with it.

Its more like 2" and the ride will be just like factory. Rubi springs are not stiffer but taller. Go to the Members Projects and check out this about half way down on the second page http://4bangerjp.com/forums/index.php?topic=3449.15

Thanks for the heads up on the previous posting.
I think I will give it a try.

I got about 2"s out of my Rubi shocks and springs. I sat my old springs next to the new ones and their wasn't much of a difference height wise... if any. However, I did notice they were harder to compress and I also feel a bit of a difference in the ride stiffness. The Rubi shocks and springs to ride a bit harder than my stockers. I had the choice to go with a BB or the Rubi suspension when I did the swap. I think I made the better choice.

Guess I'm wrong on part of that. The only time I have seen Rubi springs next to stocker they were longer? Maybe his were just worn out? He did get 2" of lift though and saw no real on road differnce in ride. I'd do it and put a 1" BB in while your at it.

I got about 1-1.5 inches

I have looked into this and the rubi springs are no different than the springs for the 4.0 / hardtop. The reason you guys are getting lift is because they are stiffer to accommodate for the extra weight from the i-6 and/or hardtop. They are NOT taller. The part numbers are the same no matter the model, just the engine and top make the differece. You can check, and even order them straight from the dealership (expensive way to do it tho) . But in a way this is a good thing because it allows more broad of a search and not just restricted to rubicon models. Just look in a junkyard for a wrangler with a six cylinder and a hardtop.
What it comes down to is us guys with the lighter jeeps (4 cyl and softtop ) can get a cheap lift out of just grabbing some stiffer springs made for the heavier models. I haven't done it so those that have will have to answer for what the ride quality is like, though.

We know, all the same...rubicon springs + 4banger = 1-1.5 inches.

Is there any difference between the rubicon and the unlimited rubicon factory springs?

Apparently some don't or this post wouldn't be here ;)

I got a bit more cause my old springs had some sag to them, especially the front.
