Post by: Bill M. on April 10, 2008, 12:18:38 AM
Well I finally broke down and bought a 45$ air filter... I must say, I have noticed a little increase in horsepower.....anyone have any opinions of the brand?

I've had one in for about 2 years now; no complaints.  I have not gone offroading, though.  I have heard that in dusty trails, however, these kind of filter is not as efficient as paper elements.

I've had mine for a little under a year, I'm pretty happy with it.  8)

i just pulled one out, it's for sale if anyone wants it.  I have seen too many reports about how much crap these let into your motor to keep using one.  I've never noticed any difference using one, anyway.

I've got one of the cone style K&N's, which will be removed before too long.  They really get crudded up if you drive in dusty conditions.  The only reason I put it on in the first place was that I had to remove my airbox when I moved the motor forward.

I have also heard many of this reports as well...  both on this site (you guys, Jeffy, Gomy, etc.) and in other sites.  I'll keep mine for the time since I am doing only on-road driving, but when I'm ready to take the rig off-roading, I plan to change it for a paper one.

I might add, mine isn't the "cone" style. Just a K&N filter in my air box. I've heard of people sucking in water and junk while off road so I stayed away from the cone style. heh

we have a cone style k&n on our cj3a and we have a "precharger" on it which is basically a fabric mesh cover that is soposed to help keep dust in shit out so you could take it off for more airflow when on road and put it on for off road dust...
