Title: Need help with my 96 zj. Please help me out!
Post by: 96ZJkid on April 27, 2008, 10:15:21 PM
My 96 5.2L ZJ is making a winding noise while driving. I recently got stuck in a sandy/granite wash. There was water in the transfer case and i took it all apart and cleaned it good and it drives great, but the winding noise still persists. I dont know what else it could be. If anyone knows whats wrong or has an idea of what it could be please get back to me at alex.cohen11@yahoo.com

Thank you!

If it's stick, check the throw out bearing/ whole clutch assembly, if not, maybe the torque converter? I don't have an extensive knowledge of auto's...

The front CV/driveshaft may be making noise. I assume it is full time 4wd?

The CV boots are pretty new and in good shape, and yes it is full time 4wd.

Not the boots, but the u-joints in the driveshaft itself.
