Has anyone tried one of the gas/performance chips that are allover ebay for about $25?
Are they just a hoax? There are several reviews from other types of vehicles that are positive.
I was also wondering about a throttle body spacer, I have an 06 tj and everything I see is for the 2.5L or the 4.0L.
What will fit my tj?

For $0.39 you can go to radioshack and buy a resistor that does the same thing as the "performance" or "fuel economy" "chips" that they are selling for $25. All they are doing is splicing a resistor into the MAP sensor line and making the computer think that it is running richer or leaner than it really is.

It's a little more than $.39 and one resistor to build your own, but you can make an adjustable MAP sensor for cheap using radioshack parts. I made one, just haven't installed it yet.
I think you'll get the most benefit from the adj. MAP sensor if you've done other mods that affect your air/fuel mixture, like intake and exhaust mods, cam, 62mm TB, etc.
I wouldn't mess with a TB spacer unless you do the 62mm throttle body and spacer combo. And I'm not saying that 'just' because I sell both (see my post in the marketplace forum). Shameless plug :thumbsup:

I don't see the marketplace forum, but would be very interested in throttle body and spacer. How much do you think it helps gas/power? What is the price?

Like most mods to the 2.5L, dont expect HUGE differences... It helps, and in my opinion, its one of the easiest mods that gives the most bang for the buck, but again, its not something you will feel while driving off the line (in my case, the difference was felt more when driving down the highway, where before I would need to downshift, the motor can handle the small hills in the same gear; but then again, I not only have the TB and Spacer, but plenty of other mods like the e-Fan, 19# injectors, improved ignition with difer plugs gaps, etc.).
So if you ask me, is it worth it? Yes, it is, and I recommend you do it! Will it make a drastic difference? No, you would be disappointed if you expect that...

Actually what they used to do with the resistor plug it across the coolant sensor, which would advance the timing a bit and dump more fuel. Used to work like a charm on old cadilac sevilles

Hmm, I've only heard of the resister on the Air Temp sensor. Relocating the AT sensor was a old mod. Never bothered to do it myself though.
