Title: AEM or K&N
Post by: huntingbuck101 on May 04, 2008, 09:23:10 AM: I need to change my air filter in my TJ and have been reading about AEM and K&N. I'm going to do the drop in kind rather then a cold air intake because I've read that a lot of people go back to the stock air intake after getting one. Plus I'm really not looking for more power,with 4.88's I'm just fine. What I am looking for is a few more mpg. I know this will not give much or any increase in mpg but with a few other mods I want to do I would like to see 1-2 mpg increase.

from what I can tell the K&N would give me the best flow but the AEM would give me the the best filtration.
would the AEM give me all the air my 2.5 can handle? I also have a 4.0 tb but not like that matters.

would the AEM supply all the cfm my motor can take in? If not would it be worth the risk of possible a bit more dirt with the K&N for more flow?

Post by: Jesse-James on May 04, 2008, 10:50:46 AM: I'd keep the stock unit. Not worth it to have crap bypassing the filter if you ask me. You most likely won't notice the difference in power anyway.

Post by: dexetr30 on May 04, 2008, 03:57:35 PM: I have a drop in K&N and I didn't notice any difference power wise or mpg when I made the switch. Maybe it would make a difference with the 4.0L throttle body. I do like the fact that I don't have to keep buying O.E. paper filters every so often with the K&N.

Yeah, just to make sure... I clean and oil it every other oil change.

This reminds me I should clean and oil mine... Have not done it since I put it in over a year ago!
