Any one running pulse plugs? Would it make sense to get a high end plug wires and a high output coil to go with them or would it be to much? I don't want any holes in the top of my pistons.

im sure it didnt help...but what we can confirm is at some point before i bought it there was a hairline crack in the head that spread (this explains my hard to start problems when i first go it)..then the hotter plugs basically cashed the head in...coupled with poor compressions and probably anitfreeze leaking in through the hairline crack finally blew those cracks wide open and also (though i didnt know it then) destroyed the oil pump (antifreeze damage) and cracked the bottom, and the piston was burned through. replaced the head, busted oil pump cashed in the bottom half of the engine, destroyed the #3 piston and that was that.

Why bash a product then if you're not sure if it caused a problem or not. I'm sure it didn't help isn't exactly conclusive.

you are right. i was running E3 plugs at the time and ive talked to a few other owners and a few jeep mechanics who caution against running hotter plugs. all im saying is that id willingly purchase top end plugs (anything for my girl, right?) but going through what i went through im staying away from hotter plugs. let's face it, the piston had a damn hole burned into it and the plug was blown completely apart and welded/melted.

Well the hole in the piston and the melted plug did have another cause than the sparkplug that supposedly creates a more complete combustion. Splitfires and what ever other do that sparkplug is supposed to create a bigger flame front that spreads faster in the combustion chamber. Does it work some say it does some say it doesn't. I have never been a big fan of racer brown parts. Ran splitfires once in my ford dually could not tell any kind of difference, got them for free so was no big thing. Holes in pistons are creatd by lean mixture and precombustion not a sparkplug that is supposed to greate a hotter spark.

In my short Jeeping experience, from what I have seen, the higher end sparks do squat in a Jeep... The cheap ones work just as well as the expensive ones.

right on... proper spacing and a properly tuned ignition system for optimum performance. Of course along with other mods addressing your ignition later on down the road may gain a small amount of power as well.
