Title: Electric Fan
Post by: 6099 on October 26, 2005, 11:09:08 PM
Hi, I'm new to the forum. Have a question. I have an electric fan (presumably for the A/C) which plugs into the factory wire loom. But in the 5 years I've had the jeep, never seen or heard it operate.

(A/C and engine temp is normal)

Assuming the fan motor still runs, would it be safe to cut it off the factory loom and and hook it up to the battery with a switch in-cab?

This would be a great backup incase the engine mounted fan kaputs on me.

Any other better ideas what I shud do? thx.

Is this on an XJ?  They're designed to kick on when the engine reaches a preset temp, or when the AC compressor engages.

YJ. The fan never turns on.

Never seen one from the factory on a '95 YJ, must be an export thing.

Doesn't sound like you'll have any trouble hooking it up as you plan, as long as it's not your only fan.

YJ's never came with electric fans from the factory, so where did it come from?
