I passed a couple on the road today.....and was totally enamored....no doors....no top (well...a bikini...on each)... one desert sand color...the other caramel brown.... one with big "RENEGADE" tats on the sides of the hood...the other with "LAREDO" artwork in similar spots. Rugged and smple...like my banger but with "bigger guts" and a COMPlETE (and utter) lack of "pretension".....like a 4-wheeled horse. Positively sweet in every respect. ;) I have been tempted..... :nono:

Why not just take the doors and top off yours? Why is your top still on? :pot:

And if you like the CJ7 front clip, it's an easy and common swap for YJ's.

Actually my top and doors were fused to the body during a meteor shower last year. I have to climb in and and out of the jeep through a porthole I cut in the passenger floorboard. ;)
As a kid my next door neighbor had a sweet tan CJ7 Renegade that had me jealously fascinated for many years (and is probably responsible for my love of Jeeps today). No top, no doors, never owned 'em or used 'em no matter what the weather. Maybe seein' those CJ's yesterday brought back a few memories. I always liked the front end (grill) of the CJ's, also. Anyway, maybe I'll just slap a "Renegade" sticker on my hood of my banger and call it a day. :weee:

There's a lot you can do to TRY and replicate some of the CJ looks....lights on the front are the easiest, but hardly anything other than major fab will give you that high rounded hood.

My first Jeep was an 83 CJ-7 and it had a 360 from a wagoner in it bored out and built up. Loved it, totaled it.

No matter what you do to a TJ it still won't look like a CJ. Like oldjeep mentioned, putting a CJ front clip on a YJ is easy though. I've thought about doing this a few times. Actually, with the 2.5L, I could go with a early CJ-5 front clip or even a Jeepster.
