went out for a weekend of hunting / offroading with out cj2a and cj3a. on when turning around at the last trail of the weekend the passenger front tie of the cj3astarted wobbling... turns out the part of the Axel tube that hold's the kingpin bearing ( like a ball joint in the d30 but old school for closed nuckel) clacked and started to separate. this means it is time for an entirely new axle. for some background it still has the Flathead 4 original trans and t-case and 30 inch tires. A t18 is be in its future and the most power it would ever see is possibly a 4.3l v6 after this block gives out which could be another 20 years ( hopefully).
my question is what axle would you suggest as a replacement. we are open to a custom made Axel as we want to keep with the original width to fit down some of the tight trails we encounter.

CJ Dana 30 would be a simple swap and a common one. Otherwise you could go with some narrow track SJ Dana 44's.

Yup, CJ D30 is the easy one. Mine had a Chev D44 that I narrowed, but I was running big tires bigger motor.

since we have another weekend of hunting this weekend its looking like we are going to rob the front axle from our project cj2a that hasn't been started yet ( have the drive train but missing the time). and rebuilding it with the locker and stronger u joint axle shaft's, and disc brakes from the other axle.
