I am about to do the electric radiator fan mod. Picked up a taurus fan from a junkyard for $19 and ordered the dccontrol controller and temp probe for the radiator.
What temp did you guys set the controller to? The default is 180, but the stock thermostadt on the Jeep opens at 195. So what is the best temp to set the fan controller at?
If the controller is set at 195 - then the fan will cool the radiator to 195; which also means the coolant entering the engine will be 195 and the engine will run higher than 195.
If the controller is set to 180 - then the fan will cool the radiator to 180; which also means the coolant entering the engine will be 180 - is that sufficient to keep our little 4 bangers running at the right temp?
Or is a better cooling solution to get the temp probe that attaches to the thermostadt housing so that the housing/block is cooled to 180/195??
Basically what I am asking is which system is best for the engine?

I am usung the same setup; I recommend 180* for the temp probe... Keep in mind the DCC will measure the temp AFTER it has gone trough the radiator, where as the thermostat measores BEFORE it goes through the radiator... My engine runs at around 190~195* constant temperature, and it does just fine.

On a side note, where is the temp probe located that the temperature gauge in the dash gets its reading from?
