I can't imagine why they thought A side pull was the best thing. I love some of the comments made.

You mean like, "Is it your Jeep?" Followed by "No" and a lot of chuckling...
You seem to be hanging out here more often. Get an avatar. :hump:

Would be nice to shift everyone from the mailing list over to the forums...
That's Annie Seel, "Rally Princess". She's done the Dakar several times as well as many other rallies.

I have not posted on the mailing list for a long time. It's a shame that more don't post here. There is alot of good people on the list. The forums are way easier to follow.

Look like it had a 4.2L in it. At least they don't have to worry about stuck body bolts
-
That's ONE way of taking the body of a Jeep... And I got to say, it is the quickest I have seen!

I was going to post this, but it just pisses me off so:
I look at stuff like this and it just piss me off to no end, if you look at what is really going on in that video there is no attempt to extract the stuck Jeep, and no-one is makeing any statements or actions that would even give trhe hint to them being the owner. So what ios really going on in the video is a bunch of asshats who are giving all wheeler a bad rep came across a stuck vehicle which was left stuck for some reason, and instead of trying to help or even just ignoring it and going around which clearly could have easily been done, they decide it will be more fun to destroy it, because who cares, it's not theres and heck it could turn out funny, so they hooked to the far side top of the sport bar and yanked hoping to atleast roll the Jeep. And now we are all laughing at the situation and figure it's all a big joke, because hey it wasn't our Jeep that was stuck this time. Nw who is going to go back and clean up the now in pieces Jeep, if they had gotten it to roll instead of ripping the body who would of cleaned up the fluids that leaked out?
Take a minute and think about what really is going on in this video, and what kind of people it kmakes us all as wheelers look like, because like it or not we are all part of one large comunity of wheelers, and we are fighting a battle that we are losing to the enviromentalists who want to show us a bunch of drunk irresponcible people who care about nothing but ourselves and therefore should not be alloud to go out and destroy mother nature, and this is the arguement that is winning at getting land closed, and as you go through videos on youtube and else where look at who is putting the nails in the gats closing off our trails.
Ok  I'll get off now

My guess is that this was a recovery party. I'd imagine they thought they could tip the Jeep on it's side to get it out of the hole it was in. Although the dumbass in the truck put too much throttle into it and got a running start. The bolts on the YJ were probably eaten away a bit. It's very common to see 1/4" eaten out of the bolts. Add a shock load and the bolts break.
Stupid way to extract it. They were too lazy to get a little dirty with shovels and I'm sure no one had a winch. Now the owner has a tweaked body, stripped wiring and torn up fenders to deal with. I think his friend could have only done a little better by burning it to the ground.
Still, I like to see the video and getting mad at those viewing it is a bit much. Hiding the video isn't going to make the problem go away. It happens, here's teh results, don't be these guy's. it's that simple. Yeah many will laugh at it BUT they'll probably also remember it.
If you follow the link to the actual video, you'd see it took place at Azusa Canyon. Azusa Canyon is an OHV park. There are fee's to enter.
