I've got a 2" BDS kit here and the kit didn't come with any shims for the rear axle. So I'm guessing going from stock suspension to this 2" kit you don't need them. Well will my extended shackles make a big difference to where I will need any shims? I figure this is something you gotta figure out once you lift the Jeep, I wasn't sure because when I lifted the cherokee it never needed any shims. :flush:

i have the 2 inch bds lift on my jeep. my advice would be to go out and by some shims for the back... because if you don't you will have to use the 1inch transfercase drop kit that comes with the lift... the t-case drop is one of the main things i want to change on my jeep as it looks wrong and likes to high center itself.
but the lift shekels may give you enough angle on the axle that it your drive shaft angles may be ok... i noticed after installing my lift shackles that my drive shaft looks to be very flat....

Keep in mind if you do need shims they come in 2*, 4*, or 6*
I wouldn't think with 2 inch springs you would need them. But that might depend on how long your shackles are.
Did the kit come with T-case drop stuff?

I would say my shackles are about 1"-1.5" maybe. Yep the kit came with a t-case drop. The only reason I'm asking is I got a badlands trip coming up here at the end of November and the only thing I don't have are some shims. I got an SYE I need to get installed along with the kit. I figure if I have to I'll run the t-case drop for the trip and install the SYE at a later time, kinda silly I know.

I wouldn't bother with shims since you have 1.5" shackles. You're already angling the pinion up.If anything you could use some degree shims for the front to level it out.

I would recommend leaving them out for now and put them and the TC drop only if you have some vibrations. To keep the single cardan DS in phase you should ideally both drop the TC and shim the pinion up by equal angles. In practice other setups seem to work OK. Once you put in a SYE and CV DS you will want to remove any TC drop and shim the pinion to set the correct angle.

How about taking 2 minutes to stick an angle finder on and see if you need them or not?

Throw the SYE in, along with a shortened XJ/TJ front driveshaft, and you will be good to go. That can easily be done before the Badlands trip. I've got about 10 times that much work to finish on 2 jeeps before wheeling FlatNasty next weekend.

Nope, going down November 29th for our groups "Turkey Run", should be fun I went last year.
