Title: Transmission Fluid - Redline
Post by: bestos on December 06, 2005, 11:41:24 AM
Question, been searching and found no definative answer.  Jeepforums just suggested using 80W gear oil for tranny fluid.  I want to use Redline, but not sure which to use,  MT, MTL or 75W-90NS or 75W-140NS.  believe i read jeep manual suggests 75W-90.  I am just confused at what to use, someone please help me out with the type and how much to buy.

in addition, Redline's synthetic D4 ATF - is that good enough for the Transfer Case? (how much)?

I checked the FAQ before and could not find the quantity for the transmission or Transfer case.

I'll have to check but I don't think it's much.  Maybe less then 2 quarts.

3.5q to be on the safe side, and use Redline MT90 in the AX5 tranny.

Thanks guys.  I am having my 4.88s done with my mechanic for free tomorrow, so when he is working on those, i will be swapping the Tranny fluid.  I have never done it since i bought at 47k, it now is just at 90k, but i have only been wheeling for about 1000 miles (jeep is ex-DD).  thanks again.
