How many of you have had to replace your radiator because it has started leaking around the top where the plastic is crimped to the core? Just flushed out my system and noticed that mine has been leaking from the top. Are you replacing with the same oem or going with an all alum or metal? What cost are you getting them at and where. thanks

i think griffin is about the cheapest good alum radiator that i have seen and i think they are around 400, i have replaced lots of plastic tank radiators, they take flex force from the body and the seems just give out, me i don't have plastic tanks but i did punch i giant hole through mine with a tree one time

bwhte, what's up? 1 post, I thought you were an old hat around here.
It's a pretty common failure, I'd recommend an all metal replacement from www.radiatorbarn.com . Can't really go wrong with the price and warranty.
-
I have an all-metal replacement radiator from Radiator barn, I think. I got it on a trade. Mine's for an Auto so it has a built-in trans cooler for free. I think the regular price is under $200.
-
When mine started to leak I just had a local shop get me one. It's a all metal 2 core. It's been awhile I don't remember how much exactly it was in the $200-250 range.
Radiator Barn has a good reputation if you can't find a good deal on one locally.

I had a local shop order me one also. Its a 3 core and if I remember it was about 250 bucks, my parents bought it for me for my birthday.

I paid $135.00 for a new all aluminum radiator in Ebay ,now they cost more about $150.00 and they are good .

Radiator Barn isn't one store. It's really a network of local shops. Most likely you'll get a better deal and it will come from the same shop.

Not a bad deal. Too bad it isn't a horizontal flow then it would be perfect.

Hey Bounty nice to see you still around. I haven't been on for quite a while but I still have my 99. The radiator had leaked a little from the top but it doesn't do it very often. Thought I would get a head start and be prepared for when the installation is a must. Don't know whether to go with the cheap plastic top or get an alumimum one. Radiator Express has some good prices. Has anyone ever done any business with them?

I had the problem and went to a single row all aluminum. Like Jeffy, mine has the transmission cooler also.

I think (not 100% sure, though) those are the same people that sold me mine; has worked flawlessly for 2 years, and cools much faster than stock.

bwhte, are you still in Taylorville? A good friend of mine is now a cop there, and I grew up with the current Chief.
I'd stick with an all metal radiator, don't have any experience with the AL type but I wouldn't spend extra for it.
-
Yes, still in Taylorville. Don't think I'll ever get out. I'm not for sure that I know any or the City Officers now. They seem to be staying young while I'm not.
I've been keeping an eye on the radiator. Seems like if I use the defrost then I get a small leak but if I just use the vents then it's not a problem. Going to be keeping an eye out for a good deal on a radiator though. I can see the writing on the wall.
