Post by: DEspence on January 26, 2009, 09:43:25 AM
I was woundering if anyone else gets a sucking from the gas tank when they take the cap off.  This might be a normal thing, I don't know? this is my first Jeep.  Any help would be app.

Sounds pretty normal. It mostly does it when your tank is real low.

Yes, it's normal since the gas tank should be a closed loop system.  When you have the pump removing gas air isn't able to fill it unless it comes through the Evap. canister.  Most of the time you're driving to a gas station then shut it off then remove the gas cap. The fuel pump causes a vacuum inside the tank.
