I just installed the 4.0L tb on my tj and it works great but it has this really annoying whistle somewhere around 20-30% throttle. Has anyone else had this problem or know a way to fix it? I was considering porting the manifild i dont know if that would help?

Mine is totally stock (for now) and has done it mostly between idle and 1500 turns. I love it. Sounds like a turbo to me.

The only time I've noticed a whistle is when replacing the stock intake tube with an aftermarket tube and conical filter. Simply changing from a 2.5 TB to a 4.0 TB shouldn't have caused a whistle by itself.

Unless you have a leak somewhere maybe ;)

Maybe the IAC gasket is leaking?

Get an intake for it and it will make a "woosh" sound too. Kind of sounds like a turbo like TN00TJ said.

Mine does the same thing with the 62mm TB. It's not that loud, I notice it but it's not annoying. I also have a Rock-it City intake tube with K&N.

yea i forgot to metion I am also running a cone filter which is probably why its so noticable. I'll see what happens when I port the manifold if all else fails I'll just throw the stock airbox back in.

It's the airtube and filter, as the stock setup is designed to dampen the intake noise. Why is it so bothersome that you would go back to a stock intake?
