Recently, I had a grind in my tcase while in 4 hi and it was kind of hard to shift out of as well. So today, I figured I would drain the old fluid and put in some fresh. I drove for a bit til I cam upon a spot where i would need 4 wheel. Put her in 4 and it still grinded......the i pushed down slightly on the shifter and the grind stopped and it was still in 4. Could it be that I OVER shifted the t-case when putting it into 4hi? Maybe the linkage needs adjusting? I figure the fresh fluid cant hurt, but maybe all of this time I was jamming up on the stick too hard. :asshat: I tend to forget my own strength sometimes ha ha. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Does it shift fully into 4lo without popping out?

havent done it since last week but it had no trouble then other than being a pain in the ass to shift. I have done stupid stuff like forgetting to shif tout on pavement or doing donuts in 4hi.........im hoping i didnt destroy it!

"yea, donuts in 4hi...yea...not the healthiest activity for the jeep. Research indicates such activity is often spurred by large consumption of alcohol and accompanied by great fits of laughter and often filmed by onlookers; (see also: youtube, google video) this usually carries on until something breaks which in turn draws more laughter but subsequently results in said owner (often driver) of the vehicle to curse (see also F@#K!!, S#*T!!) and may also result in financial loss."
on a serious note-ive experienced that very same problem-shifting in causes a grinding noise-or it wont shift out and kinda hangs inbetween like neutral or something or it pops out.this usually occurs if im trying to shift while on an incline....so when i need to shift while on an incline i now put her in neutral and go through that way rather than shift while in drive.
