Title: Performance cam
Post by: CliffB on March 15, 2009, 03:11:46 PM
If I install this cam (#p4529658 specs are .450/.450 hydraulic lift----256/256 duration -- 40 overlap-- made by crane cams sold thru mopar). Would I have to fatten up the fuel mixture or could the factory computer compensate enough for it?

I have a similar cam and the ECM seems to do fine.  But i also installed some Ford v8 injectors, with a few other mods.  The stock ECM can handle a cam change.

Did it make a noticable difference?

You also need to change the valve springs, right?  If so, what kind of springs do you need? Simply new stock springs, or stiffer ones?

You need mopar performance valve springs that are rated for the increase in valve lift.  I'll post up a part number soon, but I think it's in the FAQ.

Which one are they?

P4529214     Cylinderical
P4529215     Conical

Spring retainers
P4529216 Cylinderical Valve Spring
P4529217 Conical Valve Spring

Did you need to have the spring seats machined, or are these a direct swap?

Direct swap, no machining.
