I recently bought my first jeep to fix up. 1998 wrangler. The engine is not the orginial. I am new to this so be kind...
It is a 4 cyl with four spark plugs in line on the passenger side of the engine. These numbers were below the closest spark plug:
53008403
EF
411HX23
R001
I dont know if this is the 2.5L or the 2.4L???
How can i tell????? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of those numbers are related to the intake, IIRC. Well, by looking at the year, I can say it's an AMC2.5L.

Yea I agree with Jeffy, I've got a 05 tj with 2.4L and my plugs are on top in line, and my intake has three bolts holding the throttle body on. And the throttle body on mine is pointing towards the passenger side of the car. Yours should point straight up before it goes into the black plastic tube.
