I have a 95 yj. something broke inside collomn. now the stick for turning controlls and wipers and brights is loose and has no tension. everything else works on that stick. when i put hazards on they work as hazards but as of now no turn signals. do i need to goto harbor frieght and pick up steering wheel puller? or is there a way to mount manual switch for signals say on the dash. I feel I am running illegal enough as is with no side markers, tires hanging out from under fenders, short front bumper, no liscence plate light,no 3rd brake light, no reverse lights. and half the year no side mirrors. I just dont like the feeling of having "the boys" behind me and blatently turning in front of them with nothing but my arm as a signal. Plus makes merging ans switching lanes on chicago hiways an intereasting experience

yeah you need a puller...sounds like the little plastic thingy that cancels the signal may be broken. You should be able to tell once you get in there it should be pretty obvious.
My turning signal only works part of the time. Firs tit's on then it's off, on, off, on, off, on, off .... weird! :drink:

has anyone ever put a switch from xj in a yj...bone yard full of xjs
-
I think it should work since those columns should be the same. If you don't have a tilt wheel then it's a good time to upgrade. Also if you don't have intermittent wipers.

went to junkyard. found a 94 xj w same signal arm as mine int wipers and tilt. used steering wheel puller ign plate puller and got the sec off with all that I should need down to the plugs. grabbed all bolts I removed on the way. Glad I got good practice in bone yard cause now I am fairly confident I can pull mine out and fix problem the right way even tho I hacked the boneyard one up pretty good. gonna plug it in first to make sure it works before I do anything tho. Hey and on the bright side I grabbed a front drive shaft from an xj for the double cardan joint and grabbed the u joint adapter/braket from an explorer that mounts on flange of 8.8. for $20 cause it was half off day for all. It was a productive day

turned out to be the metal piece that connects the arm to the switch...but hey its fixed and I learned something new

That's the important thing!

funny my brothers yj had the multifunction switch broken off(he snagged it jumping down) and he had no idea how to take the column apart so he wired a seperate toggle switch for all functions, and i mean all wiper speeds and everything, i got home and there was 50 toggle switches on the dash, i was laughing so hard i almost passed out, of course i ripped it all out and put a new switch in for him about a week later but watching him operate his "switchboard" on the way to the yard was worth it

Ok, since it looks like your problem is fixed I'm hijacking your thread, lol since I have related issues. I have a '95 YJ w/o tilt or delays, and my wipers don't like to work, if I turn them on (which is a two hand operation any more as the switch doesn't like to turn) and leave them on for 5-10 minutes of driving they start to work, after that they will work normally (other than the fight w/ the switch to turn them on and off) for a couple hours then it's back to having to wait for them to work again. When I replace the switch for it can I just replace the switch w/ one for delays and get delays in my Jeep? And will the switch for an XJ be the same? I would have never thoought of this till I saw Jeffy's post.

well in my junkyard expidition i found that there is a box at the end of wires and it says INT-WIPERS and it was velcroed to jeep I would make sure you snag that box. the part number on wires was 3077 that lead from steering wheel to box. If I was in your shoes I would snag whole collum for the tilt. I just looked for xj with sim wiper arm as mine. It was a 93.
