Title: Unpainting and painting flares

I want to paint mi flares black, the previous owner painted them green but the paint is cracking and I donīt like the look. I've read that it is a PITA to remove the flares and then put them back on. I don't think it's wise to apply paint remover with the flares back on, so i don't were to start  :confused:
Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

I would remove the flares then remove the paint then sand and repaint.  You don't want to risk screwing up the Jeeps paint when it's not that hard to remove the flares.

(Like PenPen eh?)

id take the time and take the flares off.. its not as easy as it could be but its not very difficult...

I think i'm going to remove/sand/paint them on Saturday. Any suggestion on a paint remover than won't eat the plastic?

Yeah, i love Neon Genesis Evangelion one my favorite anime along with Rurouni Kenshin  :beers:

Media Blaster would work.  Sand, soda, walnuts, glass beads, etc...  If the paint is only coming up in certain areas then make sure the surrounding areas are either removed or are firmly sealed.  You can paint over the existing paint if it's not too thick and adhering well.  I'm not sure if I'd use a chemical remover in fear od having it melt or soften the plastic.

btw: I have an extensive library of Anime.
