The D300 will bolt to an AX15 with adapter or a NV3550.  You'll need to swap your D30 out though.  A lot of work just to get a D300 in there.  You'll probably have to reroute your exhaust as well.

I think it's better to go with a Ford D20 so you won't have to change out the front axle.

The D300 has a 23 spline input. Not sure what the output on the RH30 is. You will also need a passanger drop front axle. Unless you flip the D300.

The key words are "used to be behind an ax-15."

If the 30rh is 23 spline (probably, I think all 91+ trannies are 23 spline), then the d300 (if already flipped with a kit) should bolt right to it, but you'll still need new driveshafts and shifter linkage.

If you have some fabrication skills, there are writeups on how to make your own d300 flip kit, but if you're lucky the PO already installed one!

Won't know until you tell us what you're working on.

D300 are all driver's drop as far as I know. Need a flip kit to replace the 231.

But the guy said it was clocked for a tj, so chances are it IS drivers side drop.

Good luck dude!
