anybody else wanna make one of these? :stick:

-
i would love one of those. how much does the conversion cost?
-
Depends, you want to buy just a kit or a pre-mande one, or perhaps one for mining? A company called Industrail Fabraction Inc. makes one. They call it the MINECAT UT99

-
Now that is sick hahah
I would like to do it myself but i know i would be :brick: after a couple of days
it would be cool to own one tho i have always wanted a jeep with a truck bed.
how much do they kits go for? and the pre made ones
-
i would love to make one of those.. but time and money will ultimately prevent me...
-
I can find a better way to spend 9k on my rig.
-
Google says $8995 for the conversion kit. Now for the whole shebang I can't seem to find it. But I know I saw it somewhere.
-

Yep $9K.
-
$9K would get me some new D60's and a fresh suspension. Brute who?
-
I think they look cool, but for 9k I prefer an old man emu suspension + safari snorkel + rear/front D44 with lockers + new tires and i think i still would have some cash left

It only had 3 gears though. I do like the utilitarian look of it though.
-
Could drop a new transmission it? But I like the turbo deisel.
-
not sure on price, but they are selling the kits quite well on quadratec's site...

i'd love to have one, but instead of wasting my own money, my rescue squad is looking for an off-road S.A.R. vehicle, and i'm gonna recommend this. easy enough to slap in a stretcher lock and throw a fiberglass cover on it.

As a SAR it might be OK BUT then you could probably do the same with a Rubicon TJ Unlimited or even a Rubicon JK Unlimited. Or you could take either as a Sport model and add the D60 to it for less. These kits require you to cut the frame in two and weld in extensions infront of the rear tires. Then the back gets extended. So you'll want an experienced welder. Probably someone certified.
Since it would be a specialized Govt vehicle. you might see if they can order a J8. That's the military version of the JK with the Dana 60. I think that would probably be better since it had a much higher load capacity. That's the reason for it having leaf springs in the rear.
-
jeffy, i wasn't planning on doing the work myself lol. i was just gonna say get this and have some shop make it. the j8 is badass, and i wish we could get our hands on them as civilians, but jeep owners never get that lucky :'(

If it's a Fleet vehicle, then you might be able to get a J8 ordered.
-
wouldn't it be nice to get a couple j8's ordered through the squad and turn around and buy them off the squad?

Those are CUCV 1008 Civilian Utility Combat Vehicle's. That's a 1.25T GMC. The problem being that those are WIDE axles. Not to mention the front D60 is passenger side drop.
-
There's a top you can get to put on the Unlimited to make it look like a "Brute" .... kinda.
-

That's just a good reason to upgrade to a Twin stick'd D300.

Too bad it's only available for TJ's. I wouldn't mind having one for my YJ. CJ-8 half-cabs are getting hard to come by.

Then I'd have to swap the transmission and then figure out how to get the VSS signal. Not to mention, I'd rather not have a D300.
-
Are you talking about that hardtop that's like half a hard top?
-

Yes
I had found one a while ago out in Maine but the guy wouldnt ship it, and I wasnt going to drive all the way out there to pick it up
-
In the new JP Mag theres an ad for a top like that. And according to said ad they have it for Yj's too.

Ah, cool! It looks like you're right!

Hmm, that CJ body from Aguala with the truck bed looks interesting. You could make your own Brute that way. Still have to stretch the frame though.
-
Not just gr8tops but Black Mountain Suspension has them half top hard top too!

and heres the link:http://www.blackmountainsuspension.com/products.htm (http://www.blackmountainsuspension.com/products.htm)
Basically it's a halftop hardtop and bulkhead. Together it will run you $1,595.00

Hmm, I do like the smooth look better. The only problem I see is figuring out how to do a cage. I also wish I had a longer tub like the Unlimited. The mini bed on a SWB looks weird.

Two separate cages, one inside/one out, my buddy did it on his scrambler.

Yeah, either that OR have the cage pass through the top with bolt-flanges.
-
do they make the half tops for the unlimited?
cause then that would be a lot cheeper (if you have one) and make a nice "brute"

The Unlimited uses the same top as the TJ.
