so last week i pulled my motor out of my jeep because of a strange rattlle. I thought t was in the upper half oops i was wrong. It ended up that NO 2 Piston was .003 smaller than the rest so all its life is has took a beating, and the skirt broke:( . so now it is .030 over and dry lube pistons arp parts and so on, running great but looking for more power. iam kinda new to jeeps but have been an auto tech for 8yrs. a lot fo ford knowlage, and know a small block chevy like back of hand. so looking for cheep power

Honestly, an electric fan will probably net the most noticeable gain for pretty cheap, past that a larger throttle body, better flowing injectors, and new ignition components, with a good exhaust will definately improve the situation, if only by a little bit each time.
If you're itching to tear into the engine, a good balaance job, cam, lifters, flowvbemched head, and larger valves will net alot without much machine work. More machine work will give you a plethora of overbore choices, as the 2.5 shares internals with the 4.0, which has a huge Stroker following. An offset grind crank is probably the most radical you can get internally, as we are yet to find a definite Stroker crank for the little 4 banger (there is research being done, but no one knows for sure).
Externally, the most radical choices are turbo and super charging, both of which have been done a few times (search).

Then the biggest difference will come from regearing... I have 31's on 4.88 and when I changed (up from 4.10) the difference was DRAMATIC!

Since you have the engine out and have the expertise, why not slip a lo-end torque cam in it? A set of headers and a freeflowing intake and you should see a noticeable gain in power- I did! The electric fan is a big help on a banger, and , like was previously mentioned, gearing will give you the most "bang" for a lot of bucks.. Go 4.88s for 33"-35" tires, you won't be sorry!

Basically everything has been covered, and yes gearing will make the most dramatic difference depending on what size tires you're running. Keep in mind that with our four little squirrels, don't expect a world of difference from each individual mod, but the more you add the more gains you'll see.
Oh and along with the larger throttle body (for instance the 4 liter TB), you can add a 4.0 throttle body spacer as well. And of course, either a drop-in free flowing filter element or a complete intake system will net you some power too. I think from what I've added plus what everyone else has mentioned, that should about cover the bolt on mods you can add
