Title: Patriot?
Post by: sbspence on July 30, 2009, 02:32:35 PM
Anyone have a Patriot or know much about them? I can get a new one for about 10k with the incentives going on.

Personally, I wouldn't buy one.  They're soft-roaders and really if you're just wanting a Jeep brand car there are better options available from other brands.

The FIAT Panda might be a good choice!

Only if he wants to wait a few years.  And I believe the Panda is smaller.

Well the government made my decision for me by suspending the CARS program!  :brick:

Update I guess the gubmint is tying to add a couple billion(what's a couple billion anyway?) ;) to the program.
The reason I'm looking is Chryco is mathing the $4500 from the gubmint on certain cars. For me it's either the PT Cruiser, Caliber, Patriot, or Compass ... that's the list. From that list I like the Pat the most, and so does the wife. I can get an 09 with this program for around 10k!

I would like to have a Patriot for dirt road trips through the mountains. It should to just fine for that with much more comfort for the family than my YJ.

i would go patriot also i drove one last year and i loved it. i wanted to get one for a while. it does have decent amount of room. and its not to bad on gas ether, but if u wanted to take it off road u probably would have to lift it and throw some bigger tires on, depending on what u wanna do. i just couldn't see that car holding its own on a real trail.

Are you looking to replace the Aveo?  Or are you looking to go ofroad?  Personally, I wouldn't take the Patriot offroad.  I'd probably also go with the FWD version as the extra weight of the 4wd will ass complexity and weight.  They state it only gives you one point on highway, but I would assume the 0-60 would be better and in actual real driving, it would be as well.

The Caliber never really lived up to it's expectations as a replacement for the Neon.  The PT Cruiser is going to live on for another year.  I'm assuming, it's actually making money for them.  They don't have anything to compete with the Chevy HHR otherwise.

I had to buy a new car, I'd pass on all four.

Well believe it or not it's all a moot point as Chrysler sold all the lower end Patriots, and Calibers in the first week! There isn't any available in the US according to several local dealers.
