Title: info about TBI
Post by: TenTanToes on October 08, 2009, 01:48:23 PM
I found this locally for $750.  '86 Cherokee 4x4, aw4 manual, 2.5 TBI.  Assuming it runs well, is this thing still going to totally suck? ;)  What kind of mods can be done to a TBI?

The TBI makes many mods more difficult, but if it runs OK, I thinkk for $750 you cant go wrong...

Just curious about the transmission.  The AW4 is an automatic tranny, not a manual unless some has done a shift lock conversion.

what's a shift lock conversion (my knowledge in auto trannys is quite limited, i know what P/R/D stands for and that's about it).

My bad, it was a typo, I meant to say AX4 in my original post.  I've decided to let it go.  I emailed the guy to ask what kind of shape it was in, not that I was expecting much for the price but I just wanted to get an idea of what I would be dealing with.  He was pretty sharp in his reply, something to the extent of "Look buddy, it ain't new so I don't know why you're even asking."  Eh, pass.
