Anybody add anything to their oil or gas for peformace gain, cleaning fuel systems, or crankcase?
Does this stuff work or is it snake oil?

I have switched everything over to Amsoil in mine, but other than that I dont put anything else in there

I run techron just before each oil change. If its good enough for Bosch, and
Porsche I'm ok with it. and I have never had injector problems or significant
carbon on the pistons or head.
If I'm going to park a rig for a while I fog the engine with marvel mystery oil when I shut it down.
I use the Red-Line break in additive on new engines or Childers break in oil.

Only thing I do us use Moble1, I think it's 10/50 with the blue label. It's a little thinner for better mileage/performance. Other then that, it's all dino oil. I end up changing my gear oil soon enough that it's not worth it for me to use the good stuff.
I doubt I have any carbon build up since I tend to rev my engine a bit higher then most and let it cruse at 3K when stretching it's legs. I changed the injectors several times so they're OK as well too. Never really had any issues since I've owned it.

Something not everybody knows yet,,, A while back they took all the sulphur and zinc out of motor oil.
Racers hit the first issues, You would build a sprint engine, run a couple sessions and the cam would go flat.
Without the sulfur and zinc it was not correctly hardening the surfaces of the lifters and the cam during the
break in run. One we started using the Additive or the special oil for new engines the problems went away.
Its especially critical with high lift cams and the accompanying heavy duty valve springs.

I used to use chlorinated parafins which my father would buy in large drums sourced from industrial suppliers and resell as the prodcut "Cero Fricción" in Mexico. It reduces friction a lot but it would probably not be legal for emmisions in much of the US. We used to run it all our cars and he still uses what is left (no longer selling it) in a 1985 Chevy van that gets very little maintenence (oil change every few years) but is running great with close to 300, 000 miles on the odometer. We put it in the engine and the auto tranny too. I don't use it currently because it is hard to get in small quantities and my father only has a little bit left from when he stopped selling it.
Slick 50 was being marketed a lot at the time but in friction tests it was worse than regular oil.

anyone used royal purple (i mean oil, not additives - not sure if they have one anyway) - is it as good as the claims are? I only use mobil 1 or castrol synthec lately and both seem up to the task. In the past i did use friction additive in the oil but only in the mineral kind never in synthetic.

we used royal purple in the trany and diffs of our 06 tj rubicon (manual trans). it improved the shifting and made it quieter (when compared to what they put in from the factory). we usually use Mobil 1 in everything but it didn't meat the requirement for the trany for some reason :puzzled:.

We run royal in our race cars, night and day difference how much bearing wear and cylinder wear we see with it. I run it in my YJ engine when I know I'm going to be treating it badly... But I run Mobile 1 for normal driving.
